Goniopora corals (commonly known as flowerpot corals).
Lighting Requirements
- Keep PAR levels between 75 and 200 depending on the specific morph.
- Provide a blue-heavy spectrum (14K–20K) to enhance coloration and prevent bleaching.
- Acclimate new colonies slowly by starting them lower in the tank.
Water Flow
- Provide low-to-moderate, random flow that makes the long polyps sway gently.
- Avoid heavy, direct streams that cause the polyps to retract or damage delicate tissue.
- Keep them clear of the sandbed if shifting sand can settle and smother the flesh.
Feeding and Nutrition
- Supplement photosynthesis by target feeding 2 to 3 times per week.
- Use fine particle foods.
- Turn off circulation pumps during feeding for 15–20 minutes to maximize capture.

- Temperature: 75°F – 80°F (24°C – 27°C)
- Salinity: 1.024 – 1.026 SG
- Alkalinity: 8 – 12 dKH
- Calcium: 400 – 450 ppm
- Magnesium: 1260 – 1400 ppm (maintaining stable magnesium and trace elements like manganese is vital for long-term success)
- Nitrates / Phosphates: Avoid ultra-low nutrient systems; maintain measurable nitrates (5–15 ppm) and phosphates (0.03–0.1 ppm)
