Sun Eater Acan Echinata
Optimal Water Parameters
- Temperature: 74–80°F (23–27°C)
- Salinity: 1.024–1.026
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Alkalinity: 8–9 dKH
- Calcium: 400–450 ppm
- Magnesium: 1280–1350 ppm
Lighting and Placement
- Lighting: Moderate (50–150 PAR). Avoid excessively high light to prevent fading or tissue stress.
- Water Flow: Low to moderate. Gentle flow prevents debris buildup without forcing the polyps to stay closed.
- Placement: Lower rockwork or the sandbed.
Feeding and Aggression
- Feeding: Target feed 2–3 times per week using small meaty foods like mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or specialized coral pellets. Feed when the lights are off or dim for best polyp extension.
- Aggression: Echinata corals possess a very strong sting and are aggressive toward other corals—especially other Acans. Keep them spaced at least 4 to 6 inches away from neighbors.
