WAVING HAND ANTHELIA
Water Parameters & Chemistry
- Temperature: 74°F – 80°F (23°C – 27°C)
- Salinity (Specific Gravity): 1.024 – 1.026
- pH: 8.1 – 8.4
- Alkalinity (dKH): 8 – 12 dKH
- Calcium: 400 – 450 ppm
- Magnesium: 1250 – 1350+ ppm
Lighting & Flow
- Lighting: Moderate (typically 50–150 PAR). They can adapt to lower or higher lighting levels with proper acclimation.
- Water Flow: Moderate to high alternating flow. Adequate flow encourages the signature waving motion, though excessive flow may cause polyps to shrink.
Placement & Tank Management
- Growth Rate: Extremely fast spreader. It forms a creeping mat across rockwork and can quickly overgrow slow-growing corals or cover large sections of the tank.
- Tank Placement: Best placed on an isolated rock island or near the bottom/corner away from the main aquascape to control its spread.
- Aggression: Generally peaceful and non-aggressive, but it can crowd out neighbors by blocking light. They can be sensitive to chemical stings from aggressive stony corals and do not tolerate standard coral dips well.
