Leptoseris
Placement and Lighting
- Lighting: Keep PAR levels between 50 and 220, as too much direct light causes bleaching.
- Placement: Mount the coral in the lower two-thirds of the tank or under shaded overhangs.
- Flow: Provide a moderate, indirect water flow to keep the fragile tissue clean without causing stress or damage.
Water Parameters
- Temperature: 74°F–80°F (23°C–27°C)
- Salinity: 1.023–1.025
- Alkalinity (dKH): 8–12
- Calcium: 420–440 ppm
- Magnesium: 1260–1350 ppm
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Nitrate/Phosphate: Keep nitrates under 10 ppm and phosphates below 0.10 ppm.
Feeding
- Photosynthesis: They get most of their energy from light via symbiotic zooxanthellae.
- Supplements: Occasional target feeding with fine foods like mysis shrimp or oyster feast can help, but avoid overfeeding to keep nutrients low.
