Neon Green Cone Bottom Trachyphillia
$65.00
Trachyphyllia (open brain) corals are hardy large polyp stony corals.
Placement and Flow
- Substrate: Place your coral directly on a flat spot on the sand bed rather than on the rockwork, as their fleshy tissue can be irritated or cut by sharp rocks.
- Water Flow: Provide low-to-moderate, indirect flow. The current should be strong enough to keep detritus from settling on their flesh, but not so strong that it tears or causes the tissue to retract.
- Spacing: Keep them away from aggressive corals like torch corals or anemones to prevent stinging.
Lighting and Nutrition
- Lighting: They prefer lower light intensities, around 50 to 100 PAR. Too much light can bleach their tissue.
- Feeding: Target feed meaty foods like mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, or sinking pellets once a week to improve color and growth.
Ideal Water Parameters
- Temperature: 76°F – 80°F
- Salinity: 1.024 – 1.026 specific gravity
- Alkalinity: 8 – 10 dKH
- Calcium: 400 – 450 ppm
- Magnesium: 1250 – 1350 ppm
- Nitrate / Phosphate: Keep stable levels around 5-10 ppm nitrate and 0.03-0.07 ppm phosphate.
