& Free ShippingHammer corals (Euphyllia or Fimbriaphyllia species) are popular large polyp stony (LPS) corals known for their flowing, hammer- or anchor-shaped tentacle tips. They provide great motion and vibrant color to a reef aquarium.
Lighting Requirements
- PAR Range: Keep them in low to moderate lighting, roughly 80 to 150 PAR (some can tolerate up to 250 PAR, but lower ranges prevent light shock).
- Spectrum: A strong blue and violet spectrum helps bring out their neon coloration.
- Placement: Position them in the lower to middle sections of your aquarium.
Water Flow
- Current: Provide moderate, indirect water flow.
- Motion: The tentacles should sway gently (“lightly dancing”) in a random or pulsing current without being blasted or pinned to one side.
- Warning: Too much direct flow tears the delicate flesh against the skeleton, while too little allows debris and sand to settle and cause infections.
