Lighting and Placement
  • PAR Level: Aim for 50 to 150 PAR. Too much light causes bleaching or dull coloration.
  • Placement: Put them on the sandbed or lower rockwork.
  • Spectrum: Heavy blue LED lighting enhances their bright colors and fluorescence.
Water Flow
  • Intensity: Gentle, indirect flow.
  • Goal: Keep detritus from settling on the flesh without pinning down or tearing the polyps.
Water Parameters
  • Temperature: 74–80°F (23–27°C)
  • Salinity: 1.024–1.026
  • Alkalinity: 8–12 dKH
  • Calcium: 400–450 ppm
  • Magnesium: 1250–1350 ppm
  • Nutrients: Keep low levels of nitrates (1-10 ppm) and phosphates (0.01-0.05 ppm). Avoid zero nutrients, which can cause them to melt.
Feeding
  • Frequency: Spot-feed 1–2 times a week.
  • Food type: Frozen mysis shrimp, enriched pellets, or microplankton.
  • Method: Turn off flow pumps during feeding so food does not drift away.
